Set up Govee Connect

Install Qaem Hub and its Govee Connect module, import Govee Connect in iCUE, turn on LAN Control for your lights, and add your Govee API key for scenes.

By ·Updated

Govee Connect puts your Govee lights on the XENEON EDGE: switch them, set brightness, pick any colour or white, run Govee's scenes, your DIY scenes and snapshots, music modes, and your own groups and presets. The widget reaches your lights through Qaem Hub, a free app for your PC.

Before you start

Setup

Install Qaem Hub and add its Govee Connect module

  1. Download and run Qaem Hub Setup.exe. It installs for your Windows account, starts with Windows and waits in the tray.
  2. In Qaem Hub, open Add modules, select Govee Connect and click Install selected.

Only want this one widget? The Govee Connect Module is the same module as an app of its own. Set up Qaem Hub covers the install in more detail, including the SmartScreen warning.

Get and import the widget

  1. Get the .icuewidget file from the Elgato Marketplace. If you bought it on qaemdev.com, download it from Account → Downloads at /account/downloads. The Govee Connect page links to both.
  2. Double-click the file. iCUE picks it up and imports it.
  3. If nothing happens, open iCUE, go to the Widgets panel, use the + button and choose the file.

Place it and pick its Widget type

Open your EDGE's layout in iCUE and drag Govee Connect onto it. In the widget's settings beside the layout, choose a Widget type:

Widget typeWhat it shows
LightsA card per light, group, plug or sensor. Tap to switch, drag to dim.
ControlOne light big: brightness, power, colours, whites and scene chips.
ColoursA colour palette for one light.
ScenesButtons for your presets, scenes, snapshots and music modes.
Big buttonOne light, group, preset or scene, as large as the tile.

Add the widget more than once to give each copy its own job.

Turn on LAN Control

Lights with LAN Control answer straight over your network: fast, and with no account.

  1. In the Govee Home app, open a light and tap the gear.
  2. Turn on LAN Control. Do it for each light.
  3. On the widget, tap the gear, then Look again. Your lights appear by themselves.

Not every Govee light has LAN Control. Those work through your API key (next step).

Add your Govee API key (optional)

The key adds every device on your Govee account by its name, Govee's scenes, your DIY scenes and snapshots, segments, music modes, and devices without LAN Control.

  1. In the Govee Home app, go to Profile → Settings → Apply for API Key. Govee emails the key to you.
  2. On the widget, tap the gear, paste the key under Your Govee account and tap Connect.

Allow the widget

The first time the widget connects, Qaem Hub asks whether Govee Connect may use your Govee lights, with a 4-digit code. The widget shows its code too.

  1. Check that the two codes match.
  2. Click Allow in Qaem Hub.

You do this once: copies of the same widget share the approval.

Groups and presets

In the widget's settings, New group turns several lights into one tile. Save the lights as they are now keeps their on or off, brightness and colour as a preset you can bring back with one tap.

Troubleshooting

  • No lights found: check LAN Control is on for each light, and that the PC and the lights are on the same network. A light on another network can be added by its address under More.
  • "Another program is using Govee's LAN port": only one app on a PC can talk to Govee lights over the network at a time. Close Govee's desktop app or other lighting tools, or add your API key so the widget goes through Govee's cloud instead.
  • "Govee asked to slow down": Govee limits how often apps may ask. Wait a minute; lights on your network aren't affected.

Govee Connect is an independent widget by QaemDev. It isn't made, endorsed or supported by Govee or Corsair.
