Notion Connect puts your Notion databases, pages, quick capture and what's due on the XENEON EDGE. The widget gets its data through Qaem Hub, a free app for Windows, which also holds your Notion sign-in. You install Qaem Hub, import the widget, then sign in to Notion in your browser and pick the pages and databases the widget may see.
Before you start
Setup
Install Qaem Hub and add Notion Connect
- Download Qaem Hub Setup.exe and run it. It installs for your Windows account and starts with Windows. The Qaem Hub setup guide covers the installer and the SmartScreen warning.
- In Qaem Hub, open Add modules, select Notion Connect and click Install selected.
If you don't see Notion Connect in the list, skip ahead: when the widget is on your EDGE, tap Open in Qaem Hub on it, and Qaem Hub opens with the module already picked. More about the app is on the Qaem Hub page.
Get and import the widget
- Get the
.icuewidgetfile from the Elgato Marketplace. If you bought Notion Connect here on qaemdev.com, it's under Account → Downloads. The product page links to both. - Double-click the file, and iCUE imports it.
- If nothing happens, open iCUE, go to the Widgets section for your EDGE, use the + button and choose the file.
Place it and pick its Widget type
Drag Notion Connect onto a screen area of your EDGE. It lays itself out for any size, horizontal or vertical.
Its settings appear beside the layout in iCUE. Pick a Widget type: Database, Page, Quick capture, Due soon, Recent pages or Favourites. Then pick a Design: List, Board, Focus or Strip. Add the widget more than once to give each copy its own job.
Allow the widget in Qaem Hub
The first time the widget reaches Qaem Hub, it shows Allow this widget in Qaem Hub and a 4-digit code. Qaem Hub shows the widget's name and a code too.
- Check that the two codes match.
- Click Allow in Qaem Hub.
You do this once: every copy of Notion Connect shares the approval.
Connect Notion and pick your pages
On the EDGE, tap Connect Notion. You can also start it from the Notion Connect module in Qaem Hub.
- Notion opens in your PC's browser. Sign in if it asks.
- Pick the pages and databases the widget may see. It sees nothing else.
- The tab says you're connected, and you can close it.
If the browser tab didn't open, or you closed it, tap Open on this PC. The sign-in finishes on the same PC that runs Qaem Hub.
Pick a database or page
Tap the gear in the widget's header to open its Settings, and on the Show tab pick the database or page this copy shows. Until you do, the widget says Pick a database in Settings or Pick a page in Settings.
Make each copy yours
The Show tab in the widget's Settings also sets a database's filter and sort, the properties under each row, quick capture presets, the databases Due soon looks at, and the pages you pin as Favourites. Behaviour sets what a tap and a hold do. The Notion tab shows who you're signed in as, how many pages and databases are shared, Choose pages and Disconnect.
What it can access
Notion asks which pages and databases to share when you connect. Notion Connect can read, update and add content in those, and nothing else in your workspace:
- Read the pages and database rows you shared.
- Change a row's checkbox, status or select, and tick a to-do on a page.
- Add a row to a database, or a to-do, bullet or line to the end of a page.
The sign-in stays in Qaem Hub, encrypted on your PC. The widget never sees it, and only widgets you allow can use it. The sign-in itself passes through qaemdev.com once, because Notion's sign-in needs a secret that can't ship inside an app. After that, Qaem Hub talks to Notion directly from your PC.
Good to know
- Share more later. Tap Choose pages in the Notion tab, or Connect again in Qaem Hub, and tick what the widget may see. A page or database you make later isn't shared until you add it this way.
- Tick and change. Tap the circle to tick a task. Hold a row to change its status or select, open it, or mark it done. Changes go straight back to Notion.
- Opening pages. Pages open in the Notion app when it's installed, or in your browser.
- Notion's pace. Notion allows about three requests a second, so Qaem Hub keeps one cache for every copy and asks only for what the widgets show.
- Disconnect in the widget's Notion tab or in Qaem Hub forgets the sign-in on your PC.
Troubleshooting
The widget says Qaem Hub isn't running
Tap Start Qaem Hub, or open it from the tray or the Start menu. If it isn't installed, Get Qaem Hub takes you to the download. If the widget says Turn on Notion Connect in Qaem Hub, tap Open in Qaem Hub, then add the module or switch it on in Library. If it says Update Qaem Hub, install the newest version.
It says Not allowed
You clicked Deny in Qaem Hub, or nobody answered in time. If nobody answered, tap Ask again. If you denied it, open Notion Connect's details in Qaem Hub and click Reset under Widgets, then allow it.
It says Nothing is shared with Notion Connect yet
You didn't tick any pages or databases when you connected. Tap Choose pages and tick the ones the widget should see.
A database or page is missing from the list
Only what you shared shows. Tap Choose pages in the Notion tab and tick it.
Due soon says none of your shared databases has a date
Due soon needs a database with a date property. Share one with Choose pages, or pick the databases it looks at on the Show tab.
It says your pinned pages aren't shared any more
The pages you pinned as Favourites were taken out of the share. Share them again with Choose pages, or pin others.
It says Sign in to Notion again
Notion no longer accepts the sign-in, for example because the connection was removed in Notion. Tap Connect again.
It says Notion asked to slow down
Notion's limits were reached. The widget says when it will try again and carries on by itself.
It says Can't reach Notion
Your PC can't reach Notion right now. Check your connection, then tap Try again.
